What is so difficult to understand about this??
Yes it is true that the trial of former Liberian President, Charles Taylor, is taking place at one of the ICC’s courtrooms in The Hague – but he is being tried by the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
The Christian Science Monitor is the object of my rant on this point today, for letting this slip through the editing process:
“The ICC’s ability to adjudicate cases involving war crimes by top national leaders is now being put to the test, with the ongoing trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor, who is accused of war crimes both at home and in neighboring Sierra Leone.”
But they are only the latest in a string of outlets to make the same mistake.
